Jimmy is a 6th generational farmer whose paternal family came directly from Scotland in the mid to late 1770s and settled in the Nethers/Etlan area of Madison County, Virginia, only three miles from our present farm.

His great, great, great, great-grandfather was known as a “hog baron” in those early times after his arrival from Scotland. Jimmy’s mother’s family were also multi-generational farmers and orchard men from the Syria/Duet area of Madison County and so, he comes by his vocation very, very honestly. He has a deep seated love and respect for this land on which he was born, lives and farms and for those that he maintains for others. Although he has traveled away, he has never found a place that he finds as beautiful and peaceful as that found at the bottom of Old Rag Mountain in Etlan, Virginia, and feels that it should be treasured forever as it is. Jimmy feels farming deep in “his DNA.”

Jimmy also brings to the farm his past experience as a carpenter and then as a foreman with a large construction firm in Northern Virginia.

Jimmy runs the farm full time managing the herd and properties to insure the best health for all of the beef as well as the farmland. Jimmy feels that healthy beef and healthy land truly mean healthy people.

Robin’s family tree is as “old as time” and per Jimmy, she is the true “in-bred.” Both her father’s and mother’s surnames were Clark and although not directly related, her father’s family originating in North Carolina and her mother’s in Massachusetts, as the records show, the original Clark tree goes back to the 1600s from England and then to New England, where most likely all Clarks were related at that time. Her paternal family were multi-generational dairy farmers and ran successful dairies near Mount Vernon, Virginia and Lake Barcroft in Northern Virginia before leaving and settling in Fauquier County, Virginia in what was once known as the “Free State.” Robin’s family moved to a small farm in Nethers, Virginia in the late 1960’s.

Robin now works Per Diem as a Nurse Practitioner in a busy Internal Medicine Practice in Luray, Virginia and has been there for over 28 years. When not practicing medicine, she is working full time as  Jimmy’s “gopher,” his secretary, treasurer, marketer, and accountant for the farm. She feels confident that the beef that is produced on their farm for your consumption is unbelievably healthier and tastier than anything one can get from traditional sources. She is exceedingly proud of her husband, her husband’s ability to manage their beef gently and humanely and the farm(s) that they maintain.

Jimmy and Robin have been married since 1982 and live closely with their family and siblings in Etlan and Nethers.
